I happen to enjoy DW so.. any thoughts with the nerfs?

This basically was an attempt at a 3.1 version of 0/20/51

Now that I look at it.. this might be better..

New DW Spec for 3.1?
I was specced 0/32/39 for a very long time, but with 3.1 its going to die definitely.

[0/51/20]

Loosing 20% benefit from Impurity, Gargoyle, 5% more DMG from Desecreation and 2% more DMG from Boneshield in Unholy Tree
Also loosing 10% Bonus DMG on Frost because of Black Ice nerf and 50% DMG because of HB nerf

Gaining 10% DMG because of Glacier Rot buff, 15% more DMG on BS because of Blood of the North, 25% more Strength for 20sec every 1min because of Unbreakable Armor, 45% more Crit DMG for HB, FS & BS because of Guile of Gorefiend and 10% more DMG for because of Tundra Stalker + 5 expertise

If Blizzard is going to remove the HB nerf, because its way too weak for a 51point talent, this specc should/could be viable?

If I remember correctly I HAD to put a point there so I can move to the next tier, I really don't find it ujseful at all, As pets are already a problem is most raid situations.

I adjusted a few things, 15% more damage on the new version of Plague strike might actually turn out to be quite a bit  so I put a point in outbreak and took out ghoul frenzy because I agree the talent is near worthless

Hey Auki have you given any thought to moving points from Rime and using them to put 3/3 into Outbreak and give us the full 45% buff on PS. SO the build would be more like a 0/29/42 build still grabbing merciless combat.

Something like this perhaps

I'm leaning in this direction http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deathknight=00000000000000000000000000003202530005000000000000000000230030305003115003150013123051&glyph=000000000000&version=9614

Its just a tweak on 20/51. With the garg buff, the change to outbreak frees up the points to max desecration. S/S would obviously be better with the change to BCB, but I'm not sure it changes LL being best in slot for the time being. at least simply because of the dps increase vs the 1.5ish% dps loss from the BCB with f/f atm.

Hymn quick question why are you keeping a point in Ghoul Frenzy. You could easily pull that point and put it into something like Outbreak or into Wandering Plague. Just a bit curious

Well, if anyone can post results from tests, sadly due to blizzards new way of hosting ptrs (IE making you install another entire copy of the game .) I lack the require hard drive space to test it. Sad

With the one I linked Hymn I was going for the most similar thing to the IT spam build that I could muster. You really think the 10% on everything will equate to more damage than 21% of IT damage? I suppose it all depends on how much bigger PS's are than previously and how un-nerfed gargoyle is.

Let me toss a variation of one of my ideas heading to DWing....

http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deathknight=23050015300133032312030013003200030000000000000000000000230030330103100000000000000000&glyph=101413040605&version=9614

Okay, Heart Strike has less of a weapon component than it used to have.  So basically I get myself a Ghoul and bang away like your average Blood DK.  The 3 points in BCB are throw away at the moment, I have various thoughts on what to do with them

I set up a rotation like the following:

PS - IT - HS - HS  - Death Strike (or Obliterate have to do some testing) - DC
PS - IT - HS - HS  - IT - IT - DC Dump

You get all kinds of +STR buffs + Hysteria + Sudden Doom + Bloody Vengeance/Abominations Might.  I am intentionally trying to break the mold of Frost/Unholy for DWing.  So abuse away, but I am trying to get people to rethink where points might go.

I think Auki that if you go far enough into the frost tree and grab the Merciless Combat and Glacier Rot then add on the extra damage to PS it would be even if not a little better. I saw Nev's take on the 20/51 where he had points into outbreak and I did the same. That plus the glyph of PS and it can jump up to pretty nice numbers as just a somewhat forgotten rotation filler.

It may not make up for gaining the critical strike bonus of Rime but it would add in some damage you could count on every rotation. But I personally cannot test this due to having a crap computer.

I have a strong hope that they will improve ghoul frenzy in some way as to make my eyes not bleed.

I think 10% on everything will be similar enough that the gargoyle will push it over the top.

It can't go into WP, that would be nice though. Outbreak is probably the most viable option.

My opinion for 50/21

Something else I discussed earlier with hymn, basically a 32/39 IT based build.

I'd use the same rotation for both builds, the rotation is currently use for 20/51. (start the fight with a death rune):
PS IT IT IT BB UB DC
PS IT IT BB IT DC DC

Stack haste and win?

First time posting here so go easy on me :p... been a long time reader though. Was looking through the talent specs and here's what I ended up taking a look at

Frost Heavy (w/ Howling Blast) 51/20
-The point of this build is to keep HB and rotation would be pretty similar to what we had before with 44/27. Only now it's more based in frost. Btw epidemic is taken only to be a filler since the other 2 don't have as much use. If you wanted you could still put 2 in morbidity but since this is based on FS, it's not as useful.

Tri-Spec (Zomg could it be back?) 15/20/36
-This build is still based of the IT spam that you had with 20/51. However since there was discussion how white attacks possibly going to be a larger % of our damage, I though perchance that going up the blood tree to buff that might not be a bad idea. Note that I did not take glacier rot w/ this particular build. To get that, you'd have to sacrifice 3% crit or bone shield+2pts from desecration. Either way, just wanted to make a build to try to bring back a little bit of nostalgia. Also, the newer gear with higher armor will scale pretty nice with Bladed Armor.

UH Heavy IT Spam - 23/48
-Another build based off of IT spam, this one is focused for the most single target dps talents you can pick up other than getting gargoyle. Very similar to the 20/51 posted earlier, you could also change this spec up to dropping Glacier Rot and finishing up the UH tree. I personally picked Outbreak 3/3 over Wandering Plague 2/3 since the build is mostly focused on single target dps.

For any of these, I'd say that FC/RI is probably gonna be what we'll be looking at for runeforges. With an extra 5% vulnerability and CG getting changed to PPM, I think that would net the best DPS.

As for weapons, the first one would obviously be S/F whereas the latter two could go F/F or S/F. Again, just some preliminary thoughts being thrown around. I really don't want to go back to 2h if I can avoid it, but some of the changes make one really wonder if Blizz wants to see DK's DWing at all.
