We had a lot of people on vacation last week, so I am writing this from a 10 man perspective.  I understand the 25 is just a scaled up version of the fight I have seen.

This is a survival fight.  There is a 10 minute enrage timer, but from what I have seen reasonable DPS should be able to easily beat this timer.

When you get to the room, you will see 8 (4 on 10 man) adds frozen in front of Hodir.  Hodir is an Ice Giant, so you may wish to put on the frost resist gear that you had from Sapphiron.

The adds in this case are potential helpers for you and are:  Priest, Boomkin, Elemental Shaman, Mage.  If they are unfrozen they will toss off some interesting effects as well as DPS the boss.  The Priest will dispell, the Shaman will do a Crit buff, the Boomkin a caster haste, and the Mage a warming fire.  These adds start frozen, but the ice blocks they are frozen in can be dpsed down relatively quickly.

Hodir has 3 "phases":

Part 1:  Normal Melee.  He is whacking on the tank.  He periodically drops icicles from the ceiling which do a knockback and damage on you.  You can see them prior to the drop by snowflakes falling.  It is easier with the new effects turned on, as it will make circles in the area where the damage will be.  Also, in all phases he has a debuff that causes damage if you are not moving during the fight similar to the dragon in Nexus.

Part 2:  Frozen Blows:  We used a druid tank on this section as her Frost Resist gear helps mitigate the damage.  There is an emote that occurs.  From there, the raid will begin taking Frost Damage (resistable) and the tank if hit will take some big frost damage (like 30k - also resistable).  This lasts for about 20 seconds.  NOTE: DPS DK hint - AMS work wonders here (as does IBF) for AE damage reduction.

Part 3:  Freeze:  He will then do a second emote and a couple of large snowflake regions will appear.  Icicles will fall (and knock you back - bad) and will be converted into snow mounds.  EVERBODY gets on the snow mounds.  He casts a freeze and anyone on the floor gets frozen.  Anybody frozen already dies.  This freezing effect is dpsable (and the NPCs can help dispell it).  You want to get near the big circles where the snow will fall but not right in them until after the icicles fall.

Okay after the freeze, you go unfreeze people.  We unfreeze everybody - including all the NPCs who tend not to be on the mounds.  You are back in Part 1 - so rinse/repeat.  The big thing here is to avoid taking needless damage and getting frozen.  If you can (and DKs can) mitigate the Frozen Blows, then all to the good.  One more thing.  There are lit areas (similar to the dps buffs near the Opera in Kara).  Your ranged dps should stand in these if they can.  Also, the tank needs to be walking the mob similar to Grobbulus.  The icicles target Players and NPCs (I also saw it target a healthstone well) so the melee are likely to have a icicle falling on them.  The tank can also be targeted and strafing out of tank targets is best.

Just throwing out my two cents:

Don't underestimate the npc's. Our guild's kill attempt this week had I think 5-6 of the npc's alive for pretty much most of the fight. Was kind of by accident, but it turned out to be insanely helpful.

Anyways, back to my corner.

I believe the NPCs are crucial, especially if you are considering doing this encounter on hard mode. I found it very effective having 2 groups of 2-3 members (1 group on left side of room, 1 group on right side of room) to break out the NPCs at the start and throughout the fight. These groups usually consist of the hunters and hybrids. Breaking out the NPC mage(s) (the female trolls) should be a top priority. Breaking them out first allows you to start stacking the singe debuff on Hodir asap, and the NPC mages also help break out the other NPCs. Once they are all out, all you have to do is let your mages and warlocks have a freaking field day with all those buffs floating around. XD

I also find that using frost resist gear really isn't necessary unless it is your first time learning the encounter. Everyone needs to really pay attention to their biting cold debuff. Everyone needs to pay attention to where icicles are dropping. Everyone needs to pay attention to where the mounds will form for flash freeze. Those are your goals.

Enjoy the fight!

Lol, scooty I tried to reply to your post and hit the wrong button and edited it instead.  Fixt.

Anyway, yeah I think all of these threads are like from way before anyone was doing hard modes, this forum section kind of died for a while.  But they're relevant to the thread flow, old or not @@.

Forgive me... I'll try to remember to look at the time stamp Grin. I'm not too sure who is who in the threads yet Sad. Just trying to be helpful. Also I thought you guys just created this site when you broke off from HA.

Seriously, there needs to be a Khadgar newspaper or magazine or something... that way I can keep up with all the news.... not like I'm stalking anyone in Khadgar... not at all... O.o

Ok... I showed enough weirdness on here... *runs away* XD

This site was created by Hymn about 6 months ago, as a Dual wield DK discussion forum - when we broke off from HA we just jumped onto these forums and ended up naming the guild after the site.  So it's much older then last week at least =D Thanks for the input though, it's nice to have active forum participants.
