Just wondering.... What are a lot of you using for glyphs on DW Frost?

Ive been running with Howling Blast, Frost Strike, Obliterate right now, and basically using the same rotation as 2h Frost with one disease.

What have a lot of you been running with? Ive seen FS/OB/IT combo, FS/OB/Disease combo, and mine. Anyone have solid proof of which glyph combos doing more dps than others?

It's 4am right now for me so I will get back to this later as well when I have put it more thought..

Depends on your raid.  I am our Windfury so I use IT instead of Disease.  If I had a reliable set of shammies to show up, I would use that.  HB is best for AEing but probably not as valuable as the other 2.

See, even if you were the windfury of your raid, it reapplies with Howling Blast if you're glyphed for it (that is what ive seen from running the Frost spec for a long time.)

My discussion with a fellow dk was that Howling Blast applies one disease and usually did more dmg than IT and PS put together.

With Glyph of Disease being glitchy still, if its not fixed to apply our IIT when used, it just seems pointless to be using, therefore leaving HB or IT glyph.

If i chose to run with IT glyph over HB, i would need to fix my spec up a little bit to pick up a few missed talents, and possible gear switching.

The only possible down side i see to using the HB, one disease rotation is that i do not believe im using OB to my full potential. One disease cuts down on the dmg OB can do.... But thats were it looks like i make up with a lot of the dmg with my current rotation.

I am not 100% sure what rotation you're using specifically, Zhirra, however Im assuming it opens with an initial application of IT, then utilizes Rime procs + the HB glyph to maintain FF on the target?  Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Assuming singe target, because AoE HB will win out hands down.
Utilizing Hellscream Slicerx2.  Using the aforementioned rotation.  You would be hitting for (not accounting for AP and with rough napkin math)

One Disease
MH: 511+467.2*1.125 =~1100.48
OH: (511+467.2*1.125)*.5 =~550.24
Total:1650.72

Two Diseases
MH: 511+467.2*1.25 =~1222.75
OH: (511+467.2*1.25)*.5 =~611.375
Total:1834.125

before armor and without talents.

Also factor in the damage that Plague Strike itself causes:
511*.50+189 =~445.4

AND also figure in the bonus damage to your Blood Strikes you use to convert the runes:
One Disease: 511*.40+305.6*1.125 = ~573.75
Two Diseases: 511*.40+305.6*1.25 = ~637.5

Now factor in that with the IT glyph you add 10 RP per 20s rotation and with HB you add about 304 base damage to your "beefed" FF applicator.

OH!  And I almost forgot to mention the ADDED DOT DAMAGE from Blood Plague, which was buffed in the patch.

In total I feel the added disease with the IT glyph is better.  I will rerun this after work as I am typing in my office and semi-rushed.

Hope that helps some though!

Thanks Saeng. That made things a lot more clear seeing the numbers.

I was using the rotation you mentioned. On single target situations, i was on occasion using both disease at the start, but then HB glyph becomes useless, and on occasion, it would throw my rotation off.

I will switch to IT glyph and give it a spin.

Thanks ^^

Not a problem.  I am not sure, I'd have to run the numbers again also, but you may well get better AoE damage using unglyphed HB on Rime procs, partnered with Pestilence as one of your Blood->Death rune converters in you're initial rotation on AoE pulls or add situations.  Rather than 1 Disease +HB adding FF.
