I rolled her for fun on Alliance side of my server.  I don't really know a ton about DKs, and all of these threads are kind of old, and EJ is largely un-updated.

So if all I really wanted to do were 5mans and the occasional 10man at 80 with some friends, what kind of spec do you guys think would be best for that? The <Paragon> Unholy DK DPS astounded me but I'm not sure if that's the kind of thing that would be useful in a 5/10man.  The spec can either be 2h or DW centered, I'm ok with both.

Thanks for the help and sorry for being a noob XD

Well i've tried the 2h Unholy spec the dk used in para but don't let that make you spec it blood 2h and 2h unholy and very close in dps in different fights. Blood still wins in single target fights(1-2targets) whereas unholy pulls ahead when you have 3-5 targets thats why u saw all the dk spec unholy in the top 5 dmg because anub is a big add fight where unholy's AoE thrives

If that's Unholy's gimmick, it seems like a good 5man spec.  I could always just go blood on dual spec on the off chance I run a raid.

Thanks!

What I found with Dual Wield frost was that it took a little while to get rolling so it wasn't as good for five man because by the time your rotation was locked in the other dps had killed all the mobs.  In a raid setting it is really cool because it just ramps up the dps as the rotation gets locked in.

The only addition I'd make is that for 5-mans, try any of the decent specs and don't worry too much about your performance and focus on playstyle and getting the feel of how to play it. I agree, DW frost isn't great for 5-mans, but as long as you have one or two geared players in your group it won't matter anyway. Does it really matter if you can 'only' do 3k dps in a 5-man in DW frost when you could do 3.5k as 2h Blood or Unholy?

In raids, DW frost, 2h blood, and 2h unholy (oblit nerf inc, blue trying to 'rebuff' scourge strike) and DC spam unholy all perform reasonably well depending on the fight as mentioned above. So I'd recommend picking one of the four main specs - the one that appeals the most - and running with it for a while. Smiley Have fun!

Yeah, I wouldn't have an issue with just messing around on Horde side, but since this DK is on Alliance where i know few-to-no 80's, I want to at least be able to semi-carry my weight Cheesy
